BiographyAcclaimed Chinese-American pianist Carmen Ka-Man Mak has been giving solo performances on concert stages in the United States, Canada and China. She gave her celebrated New York solo recital debut at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, shortly after her graduation from the Juilliard School. She has been enjoying return engagements at many venues, and has often been invited to appear on public radio and television broadcasts. Praised for her artistry, insight and virtuosity in her performances, Ms. Mak is recognized as one of the notable artists in her generation. In addition to her shimmering tone and palette of colors and sonorities, she has distinguished herself with her mature and profound interpretation of the standard piano repertoire from Beethoven and Schubert to Messiaen to Chopin, Schumann, Debussy and Granados. Ms. Mak holds a Master of Music degree in piano performance from the Juilliard School. Before moving to New York, she earned an Artist Diploma from the Oberlin College Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Institute. |
